Exercise doesn’t have to be hard work. In fact, most of the time, it’s fun, rewarding, and nourishing for your soul. So to find the right exercises that suit your needs, ensure it’s helpful and fun – in your opinion. Find what makes you feel more connected with yourself, your body, and the natural world.

Here are seven exercises to nourish your soul and help get you started on a path of self-care:

Strength Training

Strength training isn’t limited to a gym. You can use your own body weight, resistance bands, and even household items such as soup cans to help you build strength. Increase the consistency of your workouts by starting with just five minutes per day and gradually increasing it over time.

Pilates

Pilates is great for lengthening and strengthening the body. It helps create a long, lean look while improving your posture and balance. To get started, try taking an online or in-person Pilates class.

Walking

Walking is simple, peaceful, and calming for the mind. As you walk, focus on your breathing and be aware of your body as you move through each step. Try walking for about ten to fifteen minutes daily in nature or even stroll around your neighborhood.

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

HIIT is an excellent option if you’re looking for something more intense. It involves short bursts of high-intensity exercises followed by periods of rest. Look up some HIIT workouts online or take an online class.

Jump Rope

Jump rope is a great way to increase your heart rate and burn calories. It’s also surprisingly fun and helps you build coordination and agility. Start with short intervals of jumping for thirty seconds at a time. Then, increase the amount of time as you get more comfortable.

Swimming

Swimming is a great way to get an effective workout while having fun. If you’re uncomfortable in the water, start with just a few minutes of gentle swimming and work your way up over time.

Skating

Roller skating or ice skating is an excellent way to get your blood pumping and have a great time. Make sure to choose the right type of skate for your skill level, and start off slowly with just a few laps around the rink.

Remember to start slowly, increase the intensity gradually, and most importantly, have fun, no matter what type of exercise you choose. When you slow down and take care of yourself, you feel alive, energized, and ready to take on the world. Exercise doesn’t have to be hard work. It can be a beautiful way to have fun and nourish your soul. Allow yourself to move your body in whatever form makes you feel alive and connected to your true self.
