Grounding, also known as Earthing, allows you to get a positive electric charge from the Earth’s natural surface. It is likely that you have been experiencing the benefits of grounding for years without realizing it.

While you might not be able to get outside in your bare feet and access grounding on a daily basis, it is a really good habit to add to your spiritual routine. You can benefit whether you do it daily, weekly, or every few weeks.

Here are some easy ways to add a grounding practice to your spiritual routine.

Enjoy the Sunrise With Bare Feet

The best and most effective way to benefit from grounding is by putting your bare feet on the earth’s natural surface. Preferably, this is dirt and grass, though other surfaces work as well. If you are trying to fit grounding int your daily routine, why not head outside as the sun comes up?

This is a great way to start your day and can become part of your morning routine. If you are waking up early enough, it can either be the first thing you do in the morning, or after you meditate. The sunrise can also help you to relax and set some positive intentions for the day.

Go outside with your bare feet and stand on the ground in order to enjoy the sunrise. This can be in your backyard in the dirt or grass, or nearby if you don’t have a yard or live in an apartment. You can also make a routine of driving somewhere else in the morning for the sunrise, such as the beach or a nearby park.

Spend Some Time in Nature

Knowing you need to ground yourself more often can also give you a reason to spend more time in nature. It is so easy to spend all your time indoors, between your home and your workplace. Let your new spiritual routine be the push you need to get outside and enjoy all of earth’s wonders.

Find a nearby park or forest and once again take your shoes off to stand on the ground. You do want to be careful that it is a safe place without snakes or critters that might bite your feet, but most areas with hiking trails will have safe spaces or clearings for you to take your shoes off.

Remember grounding doesn’t have to be for a long time. Just long enough to feel the earth under your feet, and spend a few minutes meditating or just being still in it.

Meditate on the Floor of Your Home

While it is more effective on the ground outside where you let the energy of the earth soothe your feet and absorb into your body, that isn’t always an option. For other types of grounding, you can instead be on the floor of your home. Sometimes, just the act of being on the ground as opposed to a couch, chair, or bed makes you feel a little closer to the earth. You may be able to get some positive energy by spending more time on the ground, such as during a meditation practice.

Do Your Grounding in Water

Some people prefer to do their grounding work in water, which is another option you might want to try out. This can be a bath in your home if you want to take a spiritual bath, or even a nearby ocean or lake.

There are some added benefits of choosing to ground in water. For one thing, you get the relaxation from the water, such as floating around in a swimming pool or enjoying the saltwater from the ocean. If you choose to take a spiritual bath, you will get the other added spiritual benefits on top of the grounding.

The best option for grounding is to touch your bare feet to the dirt and grass, but when that isn’t an option, just do your best and try to connect with the earth in whatever way you can. Take your shoes off at the dog park, enjoy a local garden, or just touch your hands to trees whenever you’re going for a walk.
